Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) lean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Steamed broccoli, carrots, or cucumber slices for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spoon as it browns. Once fully cooked, drain any excess grease if necessary.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes. Mix well and let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes until it slightly thickens and coats the beef.
- Divide the cooked rice among serving bowls. Spoon the Korean-style ground beef over the rice and add your choice of vegetables on the side. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
